Welcome to Changemonitor, developed by Rob Mulder. Changemonitor is an app for iOS and Android that lets you monitor websites for changes through your own changedetection.io instance. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
Changemonitor has no sign-up and no user account. The pages you monitor and their change history live on the changedetection.io instance you connect — not on our servers.
To deliver change alerts, the app obtains a push token from the platform's notification service (Apple Push Notification service on iOS, Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android) and sends it — together with a per-install device identifier and the URL and API key of the changedetection.io instance you connect — to our backend at app.changemonitor.io. We store these solely so the backend can relay notifications from your instance to your device. They are deleted when you disconnect the instance or uninstall the app.
We collect pseudonymous usage analytics: a per-install device identifier; app, device, OS, locale and theme attributes; and screen views and interaction events (including in-app language changes, a short preview of a tapped notification's body, and opened deep-link URLs). We also capture session replays for diagnostics, with text inputs masked. This is processed on our behalf by PostHog (hosted in the EU) and by Firebase Analytics (provided by Google). No advertising identifier is collected.
Crash reports, app-not-responding events, stack traces, breadcrumbs, device information and your IP address, plus a small sample of performance traces, are sent to Sentry, which processes them on our behalf to keep the app stable.
Changemonitor Pro is a one-time purchase handled by the platform's payment system (StoreKit and the App Store on iOS, Google Play Billing on Android). We receive your entitlement status (whether Pro is active) and log that a purchase took place. We do not receive your name, card, or other payment details — Apple or Google handles payment.
We do not store the pages you monitor or their change history; those stay on your changedetection.io instance. The only instance data we hold is the instance URL and API key, used only to deliver notifications.
In the app, disconnecting your instance (Settings → danger zone) removes the notification webhook from your instance and deletes your device record — including the push token and the stored instance URL and API key — from app.changemonitor.io. Uninstalling stops all further collection. To request deletion of analytics or diagnostic records associated with your device, email changemonitor@robmulder.com.
All data we collect is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Connections to your own self-hosted instance use whatever scheme you configure; if you use a plain http:// address, that traffic is between you and your own server.
This app is not designed for children under 13. We do not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. Significant changes will be reflected on this page, and we recommend reviewing it periodically.
